University College Cork
UCC is one of the premier research universities in the State. Cork County & City Enterprise Boards
Cork County & City Enterprise Boards were established by the Government in 1995, to promote and encourage local enterprise development in Cork County & City. The Boards have an enterprise development function for the small to medium sized business sector employing up to ten employees involved in manufacturing, processing, or internationally traded services within their areas.

Cork County Council
Cork County Council is the largest single local authority in the Republic of Ireland. It has a long history of supporting economic development in the region through infrastructural developments, strategic planning and the promotion of local industry. Its population is one of the most youthful and highly educated in the country and it has, for example, the highest number of computer science graduates per 100,000 in the OECD.
EMC
The EMC Ireland Center of Excellence, based in Ovens Co. Cork, is home to 1,700 employees. There are 22 different business units on the campus including Manufacturing, Customer Service, Logistics, Finance, Global Business Services, International Tax, IT and HR. These business units provide coverage for all International markets covering Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America.
The facility is Cork has grown to 555,000 sq ft since it was first established in 1988 and remains the only EMC manufacturing facility outside of the United States. INSPIRE
INSPIRE formerly known
as NANOTEIRE) is a consortium of all
Irish third level institutions with
international leading research
capability in nanoscience and nanotechnology.
INSPIRE exists to
foster, facilitate and ultimately ensure collaboration and
partnership
between top ranking Irish and international scientists and
engineers in nanoscience research and education. INSPIRE will enable Ireland
to join an elite group of the highest ranking nanoscience countries worldwide
making it an increasingly attractive location for relevant indigenous and
foreign investment.
ICGEE
The International Centre for Graduate Education in micro & nano
Engineering (ICGEE) is a national consortium of fourth level education
institutions dedicated to developing a doctoral level
training in micro-
and nano-engineering including international
participation and
collaboration. The goal of the ICGEE
programme is to develop the
academic, administrative, and technical infrastructure required to
provide a national graduate education programme relying on resource
sharing between academic partner institutions and to deliver the ICGEE
graduate training programme to the highest international standards.
Graduates of the programme will be able to not only participate but play
a future leadership role in a diverse, globally engaged 21st century
society, albeit in as future engineers & scientists or in a
non-academic context.
